PROGESTIN-SUBDERMAL IMPLANT

PROGESTIN-SUBDERMAL IMPLANT

A single rod the size of a matchstick, containing etonogestrel, a progestin hormone, that is inserted just below the skin in the upper arm. Once inserted by a healthcare provider, the subdermal implant will continuously release hormone, which then inhibits ovulation (stops the release of egg cells from your ovaries), and changes the cervical mucus, hindering the passage of sperm through the cervical canal.
